The Community Engagement Field Support (CEFS) role is a key field team member supporting TASFRL's Land Management Services (LMS) program and community engagement activities. The role provides operational support for land stewardship initiatives, property improvement projects, field demonstrations, and technical field activities that assist farmers, ranchers, and land stewards in implementing sustainable land management practices.
Reports to: Managing Director
Support implementation of TASFRL Land Management Services projects, including land improvement, restoration, and stewardship activities.
Operate compact land management equipment such as compact track loaders, mini excavators, and similar machinery used in conservation and stewardship work.
Assist with site preparation, trail and access path creation, habitat restoration, vegetation management, brush clearing, and other LMS field activities.
Support the safe operation of equipment used in regenerative agriculture, forestry, and land stewardship demonstrations.
Maintain awareness of safe operating procedures and assist with basic equipment care.
Provide operational support for Precision Agriculture (PA) equipment, such as agroforestry drone operations.
Assist drone operators and program staff with field setup, operational readiness, and safety procedures.
Support site preparation and logistics for drone-assisted vegetation management and agroforestry applications.
Assist with field data collection and documentation related to PA-supported land management activities.
Assist with outreach and engagement activities involving farmers, ranchers, and land stewards participating in TASFRL programs.
Support field days, workshops, demonstrations, and community-based educational events related to land stewardship.
Assist with on-site visits to farms, ranches, and forestry properties participating in TASFRL programs and LMS activities.
Help facilitate connections between land stewards and TASFRL programs, conservation resources, and partner organizations.
Assist with logistics for field-based educational programs, demonstrations, and Land Management Services activities.
Support event setup, equipment staging, and field logistics for LMS projects and outreach activities.
Help maintain records associated with field activities, LMS work, and demonstration projects.
Assist leadership with program implementation, land stewardship initiatives, and special projects.
Become familiar with TASFRL programs and SFLR Network priorities.
Support field-based program implementation and demonstration activities.
Gain operational familiarity with TASFRL equipment and field procedures.
Assist with outreach visits and community engagement events.
Experience or familiarity with agriculture, forestry, land stewardship, conservation practices, or related fields.
Ability to safely operate or learn to operate compact construction or agricultural equipment.
Strong practical skills related to field work, land management, or agricultural operations.
Ability to work effectively in outdoor environments and rural settings.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability and willingness to travel within rural regions for outreach and program support.
Experience operating compact equipment such as skid steers, track loaders, or mini excavators.
Familiarity with regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, conservation practices, or land restoration.
Experience assisting with precision agriculture technologies or drone-supported field operations.
Experience working with farmers, ranchers, or land stewardship programs.
Bilingual or multilingual communication skills (Spanish or Vietnamese preferred but not required).
Hybrid schedule (combination of remote work and field/community engagement).
Independent contractor (1099) engagement with potential transition to full-time employment based on organizational needs and funding.
Travel may occur throughout Texas, including rural and agricultural communities statewide, and may occasionally include domestic or international travel depending on program needs and partnerships.
Compensation commensurate with experience.
